About Us

Cut Sew Curry was born from a passion and appreciation for handmade crafts a wish to return to our traditional roots, but with a contemporary take. It started with founder Aditi Sapre's own experiences with handmade artefacts lovingly made and passed on within the family–her grandmother's tiny hand-knitted sweaters for when she was a baby, smocks and dohars stitched from old cotton saris made cloud-soft with wear, her mother's love for needlework displayed through framed tapestries and crocheted mats.

Modern life has made it easy to buy and own most of these objects–produced en masse by machines–but the recent years have seen many turn to the nostalgia of the slow life and thoughtfully made slow crafts. Every object at Cut Sew Curry is made by people from disadvantaged backgrounds, who have been trained in skills like macrame, embroidery and stitching, contributing in a small way to their economic empowerment.

As believers in slow, sustainable production, we try to reduce waste and use environment-friendly materials at all stages of our production and shipping.
